About the author

Dr Nicola Tallis is a British author and historian. She holds a doctorate from the University of Winchester. After completing her thesis on the jewellery collections of the queens of the Wars of the Roses and the early Tudor queens, she enjoyed a varied career in the history and heritage sector, working with the interpretation and curatorial departments at Hampton Court Palace and at National Trust properties. She has held the position of Curator at Sudeley Castle, and featured prominently on BBC’s Countryfile in April 2013. She spends much of her time researching and writing. Nicola is the author of four books: Crown of Blood (2016), Elizabeth’s Rival (2017), Uncrowned Queen (2019), and All the Queen’s Jewels, 1445-1548: Power, Majesty and Display (2022).
