Dr Frances Image

Senior Fellow in Catholic Education

Frances Image served for twenty years as Diocesan Schools’ Commissioner, first in East Anglia and then in the Diocese of Northampton. She subsequently completed her Ph.D. at the University of London (Heythrop College/SAS) exploring the impact of Catholic education on the integral development of vulnerable and marginalized children. For this purpose she spent two years living in the Andes of Ecuador, researching and teaching in equal measure. Measuring impact across the whole range of a child’s potentialities is crucial and Frances’ doctoral thesis explored the possibilities offered by the Capabilities Approach in this connection.

Her current research remains focussed on the interconnection between Catholic Social Teaching and the praxis of providing holistic education to children suffering extreme deprivation, and the practicalities of measuring impact.

At MBIT she is involved in teaching the CCRS (Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies), with a particular interest in Catholic Social Thought.
