Welcome to the Margaret Beaufort Association (MBA)
Associates are current and former students and lecturers, friends, and benefactors of the Margaret Beaufort Institute who support its mission and vision as a lay Catholic Institute in the heart of Cambridge.
Through prayer, study days, and occasional social events both in person and virtually, we strive to engage our Associates from around the globe.
Benefits of the Association
- Connection to a community of like-minded individuals from across the globe who support the mission and vision of the Margaret Beaufort Institute.
- Become part of a community of prayer focused on deepening our spirituality, sense of connection, and discerning our call to service.
- Access to MBA special events and pilgrimages to deepen spiritual growth and increase theological literacy.
- Opportunities to assist the Institute in its important work, as needed.
- Connection to other Houses of the Cambridge Theological Federation, especially their ecumenical and interreligious projects.
Prayer Life
Associates are invited to participate in Mass and other special prayer times with the Staff of MBI.
For those not able to join in person, Associates volunteer on a rotating schedule to lead a Zoom platform for prayers during each term, especially during the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent. For example, Evening Prayer is usually held at 18.00 (6:00pm GMT) and consists of psalms, scripture readings, and reflections based on a modified version of the Liturgy of the Hours. All are welcome to join in prayer and to volunteer to assist in the planning.
Dates and times for Masses and Prayer times in Cambridge and online are advertised through the newsletter.
Testimonies
“I’d highly recommend the courses at the MBIT and membership in the MBA. What’s always struck is that the gifted tutors aren’t teaching theology to us, but are doing theology with us in a way that leaves you thirsty for more. The Institute is a hidden gem in Cambridge.” – Martine W.
“During the pandemic, I re-discovered my MBIT family via ZOOM and the MBA newsletters. This facilitated a Happy returned to MBIT helping with liturgy, and enjoying short courses and in person conferences. I am lucky to live near Cambridge”. – Jacqueline T.
