Professor John Morrill is a Life Fellow of Selwyn College Cambridge, and Emeritus Professor of British and Irish History at the University of Cambridge specialising in the period of the Long Reformation. He has been a Fellow of the British Academy since 1995 and was for eight years Vice President for Public Understanding and Engagement.
He holds a prominent position as a member of the Council Board at the Margaret Beaufort Institute, where he contributes to the strategic direction and academic development of the Institute. His 120 publications include most recently a volume in the Oxford History of British and Irish Catholicism (covering the years 1641-1745). He was ordained as a permanent deacon in the Diocese of East Anglia in 1996 and as a priest for the diocese in September 2024.
