Research interests
Old Testament texts; feminist and postcolonial approaches to the Bible; the liturgical use of the Bible; and the Bible and the visual arts.
Her current research project with MBIT focuses on Catholics and the Old Testament, in particular on identifying the factors which assist or inhibit Catholics’ access to the Old Testament.
Publications
Rosalie’s PhD dissertation, Putting Tamar in her Place, under the supervision of the Revd Dr Janet Tollington, dealt with Genesis 38 and is being revised for publication.
Other details
After a long career in second level teaching and leadership Rosalie took early retirement in 2009 to study Theology, specialising in Biblical Studies. She is an alumna of the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, where she lived for nearly eight years while completing a BTh, MPhil and PhD with the University of Cambridge. She is a regular teacher on MBIT’s Certificate of Theology course, Catholic Teaching and Practice for Women. She also lectures in various locations in Ireland.
Rosalie is particularly interested in encouraging people to read the Bible and in making the study of the Bible accessible and enjoyable. She is a committee member of the Cork Scripture Group and the Society for Old Testament Study.
